Texas Government Code - GOV'T § 2205.045. Insurance

(a) The department may purchase insurance to protect the department from loss caused by damage, loss, theft, or destruction of aircraft owned or leased by the state and shall purchase liability insurance to protect the officers and employees of each state agency from loss arising from the operation of state-owned aircraft.

(b) The insurance must be on a form approved by the State Board of Insurance.
