Texas Code of Criminal Procedure - CRIM P Art. 42.023. Judge may consider alternative sentencing

Before pronouncing sentence on a defendant convicted of a criminal offense, the judge may consider whether the defendant should be committed for care and treatment under Section 462.081, Health and Safety Code.
