The Rhode Island department of labor and training is empowered to assist and cooperate with the administrator of the wage and hour and public contracts division and the director of the bureau of labor standards of the United States Department of Labor, in the administration and the enforcement within this state of the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq. The department is further authorized to accept payment and/or reimbursement for its services as provided by that act. Assistance and cooperation may include the designation by the director of the department of labor and training of state employees to investigate federal and state violations of wage, hour, and child labor provisions and regulations and may provide for joint inspection.
