The thirty-first day of March shall annually be set aside to be known as “Cesar Chavez Day” and the governor shall issue an annual proclamation inviting and urging people of the state to observe this day in suitable places with appropriate ceremonies. “Cesar Chavez Day” shall be in remembrance of the accomplishments of Cesar Chavez on behalf of our nation's farm workers. The United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO under his leadership was, and is, a force for economic and social justice for farm workers. He shall also be remembered for conducting this struggle utilizing the principles of nonviolence.
