(a) There shall be a fire education and training unit within the office of the state fire marshal headed by a director of fire training. The director of fire training shall be appointed by the fire marshal from a list of names submitted by the fire education and training coordinating board based on recommendations of a screening committee of that board. Other staff and resources, such as part-time instructors, shall be requested consistent with the state budget process.
(b) This unit shall be responsible for implementing fire education and training programs developed by the fire education and training coordinating board.
