There exists a state building code office within the office of the state fire marshal, who is the head of the department of business regulation's division of building, design, and fire professionals pursuant to § 23-28.2-1. The office is comprised of the state building code commissioner, the commissioner's staff, the contractors' registration and licensing board, the building code standards committee, the design professionals registration boards for engineers, land surveyors, architects and landscape architects and all other applicable subcommittees.
