A township has the following powers:
(1) To acquire, by purchase, gift or lease, a tract of land covered with forest or tree growth or suitable for the growth of trees for the benefit of the township. A tract under this paragraph may be located within or outside the township.
(2) To administer a tract under paragraph (1) in accordance with the practices and principles of scientific forestry.
