Each person elected or appointed to a township office in a township shall, before entering upon the duties of office, take and subscribe an oath or affirmation of office under 53 Pa.C.S. § 1141 (relating to form of oaths of office), before a judge or magisterial district judge of the county or a notary public. A copy of the oath or affirmation shall be filed with the township secretary within 10 days of the taking of the oath.
