Whenever the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall, for the conservation of water or to prevent flood conditions, acquire, or has heretofore acquired, any lands and property within the limits of any county or township, and shall or has, by such acquisition, reduced the amount of property taxable within the county or township for county, township, and road purposes, the officers of such county or township, authorized by law to levy taxes, shall, immediately after such acquisition or as soon as may be after the passage of this act, certify to the Auditor General the assessed valuation of such lands and property at the time of such acquisition.
