Pennsylvania Statutes Title 72 P.S. Taxation and Fiscal Affairs § 1608-M. Operation as taxicab

(a) Prohibition.--Notwithstanding 53 Pa.C.S. §§ 5714 (relating to certificate and medallion required) and 57B02(c)(6) (relating to regulation of taxicabs and limousines), the following vehicles may not continue in operation as a taxicab:

(b) Authorization.--Notwithstanding subsection (a), the authority may authorize the operation of antique vehicles in call or demand service in circumstances as the authority may deem appropriate.

(c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:

“Alternative fuel vehicle.”  As defined in section 2 of the act of November 29, 2004 (P.L. 1376, No. 178)  1 known as the Alternative Fuels Incentive Act.

“Authority.”  As defined in 53 Pa.C.S. § 5701 (relating to definitions).

“Taxicab.”  As defined in 53 Pa.C.S. § 5701.
