From and after June first, nineteen hundred twenty-nine, the State Treasurer is authorized to appoint in the State Treasury such cashiers, assistant cashiers, bond clerks, assistant bond clerks, corporation clerks and assistant corporation clerks, deposit clerks and assistant deposit clerks, warrant clerks and assistant warrant clerks, corporation bookkeepers and assistant corporation bookkeepers, and such deputies, chief clerks, experts, accountants, auditors, examiners, investigators, collectors, secretaries, bookkeepers, clerks, stenographers, typists, messengers, watchmen and all other employes necessary for the proper administration of the State Treasurer's Department at salaries or compensation to be fixed by the State Treasurer.
