All appointive administrative officers, holding office when this act becomes effective, whose offices are not abolished by this act, the members of all independent administrative boards and commissions, and, unless expressly otherwise provided in this act, the appointive members of departmental administrative boards and commissions and advisory boards and commissions, which are not abolished by this act, shall continue in office until the term for which they were respectively appointed shall expire or until they shall die, resign, or be removed from office.
