The Department of Commerce shall have the power, and its duty shall be:
(a) To collect, compile, and prepare for publication, statistics and uniform data and information relating and pertaining to labor, coal mining, oil and gas production, manufacturing industries, commercial operations, public service companies, and other business interests of the State.
(b) From time to time, to transmit to the Department of Property and Supplies, 1 for publication, such reports of the statistics and information collected and compiled as hereinbefore provided, as shall be necessary to render such information available for the use and benefit of the public.
