The operator or superintendent of every mine or colliery, except as hereinafter provided, shall provided and keep at such mine or colliery a motor ambulance, and also at least two stretchers, for the purpose of conveying to their places of abode, or to a hospital, any person or persons who may be injured while in the discharge of his or their work at such mine or colliery.
