The Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, acting jointly shall appoint a registered nurse to serve as legislative nurse at an annual salary of seven thousand eight hundred dollars ($7,800) who shall serve until her successor is appointed and qualified. She shall have charge of a first-aid room which shall be located in the quarters presently occupied for that purpose.
