The following words and phrases when used in this article shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
“Association.” The Pennsylvania Professional Liability Joint Underwriting Association established in section 731 of the Mcare Act. 1
“Board.” The Joint Underwriting Association Board described in section 912-A(a). 2
“Commissioner.” The Insurance Commissioner of the Commonwealth.
“Department.” The Insurance Department of the Commonwealth.
“Health care provider.” As defined in section 702 of the Mcare Act. 3
“Mcare Act.” The act of March 20, 2002 (P.L. 154, No. 13), 4 known as the Medical Care Availability and Reduction of Error (Mcare) Act.
“Plan.” A plan of operation submitted to and approved by the commissioner under section 731(b)(1) of the Mcare Act or this article.
