The hearing before the court or auditor, in case of objections filed, shall be confined thereto, unless the court, upon cause shown, shall give leave to file other objections. If objections be made to any claim duly verified as aforesaid, whether upon objections filed or otherwise, express notice and an opportunity to defend the same shall be given to such creditor. The costs before the court or auditor shall be charged upon the fund or against any party appearing, according to equitable principles.
