The Secretary of Transportation may acquire in fee simple, by condemnation or by purchase, lands adjacent to the right-of-way on any Federal-Aid Highway System for the construction of fringe parking facilities in accordance with section 11 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1968 (Chapter 1, Title 23, U.S.C.A.). 1 The term “parking facilities” for the purposes of this section, shall include access roads, buildings, structures, equipment, improvements and interests in lands.
The secretary shall enter into all necessary contracts and agreements with the proper agencies of any government, Federal, State and/or political subdivisions and shall do all other things necessary and proper in order to obtain the benefits afforded under section 11 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1968.
