Within the meaning of this act, “veteran” shall mean any ex-service man or woman, having a legal residence in this Commonwealth, who has been honorably discharged from any branch of the military or naval forces of the United States, and ex-members of the army nurse corps (female), ex-members of the navy nurse corps (female), and women who were transported from the United States by the United States Government to serve in base hospitals overseas, and whose service with the United States Government terminated honorably, whether by discharge or otherwise.
