Any person who shall, without authority, destroy, deface, or remove any notice, sign, or poster of the Department of Forests and Waters 1, posted for the better protection of woodlots, forests, or wild lands from fire, shall, upon conviction thereof in a summary proceeding before any magistrate, alderman, or justice of the peace, be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding ten dollars, and, in default of the payment of such fine and costs, be imprisoned in the county jail one day for each dollar of fine and costs unpaid.
