The officers of the board shall be chosen annually, to serve for a period of one year each; and shall be a president, a vice-president, a secretary, a treasurer, and an executive committee of not less than three nor more than seven members, whose duty it shall be, under the direction and subject to the approval of the board of trustees, to transact such necessary business as may arise in the intervals between regular meetings of the board. No member of the board shall receive compensation for his services; but shall be paid necessary traveling and hotel expenses actually incurred in the performance of duty as such member. The treasurer shall not be a member of the board, and shall give such bonds for the faithful performance of his duties, and receive such compensation as the board may, from time to time, direct.
