The board of school directors of school districts of the first class A may permit any non-resident pupil to attend a high school for the performing arts in its district provided there are enrollment vacancies at the school and no other qualified district residents have applied for enrollment and upon such additional terms as it may determine, subject to the provisions of this act. Upon approval of the board of school directors pursuant to section 1608, 1 payments due from a sending district to a receiving district shall be governed by sections 2561 and 2562, 2 except that a sending district's liability for payment shall be limited to the tuition charge of the receiving district or its own tuition charge, whichever is less.
