(a) Creation.--The county commissioners may create or join with other counties in the creation of a tourist promotion agency, as defined under the act of July 4, 2008 (P.L. 621, No. 50), 1 known as the Tourism Promotion Act, for the purpose of making studies, surveys and investigations and for planning and carrying out promotional programs and projects designed to stimulate and increase the volume of tourist, visitor and vacation business within the county or counties.
(b) Appropriation.--The county commissioners may appropriate annually an amount of money as may be deemed necessary to any tourist promotion agency, as defined under the Tourism Promotion Act, to assist the agencies in carrying out tourism promotional activities.
