Oregon Revised Statutes Oregon Vehicle Code § 805.242

Notwithstanding ORS 803.530 (1), the Department of Transportation shall approve a request to transfer registration plates that are not from a current issue of plates if the owner of the plates submits an application for transfer along with the plate transfer fee and the fee for a customized registration plate established in ORS 805.250, in addition to any required registration fee. Upon transfer of the plates, the plates shall for all purposes be considered customized registration plates issued as provided in ORS 805.240.
