Where the smoke alarm or smoke detector is located in a common area of a lodging house, the owner or the owner's authorized agent shall be responsible for maintenance of the required smoke alarm or smoke detector and for performing such tests as are recommended by the manufacturer and is not required to provide notice of instructions under ORS 479.270. Testing intervals shall not exceed six months.
