Notwithstanding division (C)(1) of section 3313.97 and division (C)(1) of section 3313.98 of the Revised Code:
(A) Any school district board operating any schools on October 1, 1989, admission to which was restricted to students possessing certain academic, athletic, artistic, or other skills, may continue to restrict admission to such schools.
(B) Any district board that did not operate any schools described by division (A) of this section on October 1, 1989, and that desires to begin restricting admission to any school on the basis of student academic, athletic, artistic, or other skills, may submit a plan proposing such restricted admission to the state board of education. If the board 1 finds that the plan will generally promote increased educational opportunities for students in the district and will not unduly restrict opportunities for some students, it may approve the plan and the district board may implement it during the next ensuing school year.
