1. Within five days after the filing of the certificate of incorporation in the offices of the clerks of each town in which any portion of the village is located, such clerks shall jointly appoint a resident of the village to serve as village clerk until his successor is chosen by the first elected board of trustees.
2. A copy of such joint appointment shall be delivered to such village clerk and copies thereof shall be filed in the office of each such town clerk. Within three days after his appointment the village clerk shall file the constitutional oath of office with the town clerk with whom the original of the certificate of election was filed and shall file a copy thereof with the town clerks of all other towns in which any part of the village is located.
