Every free Methodist church heretofore incorporated in the state of New York shall, three months after this article takes effect, automatically come under its provisions, unless in the meantime it shall elect by a two-thirds vote of all its members in full connection to remain under the provisions of the general or special law applicable thereto at such time. A certificate of such vote shall be filed in the office of the clerk of the county in which the principal place of worship of such corporation is located and shall be recorded by such clerk in the book in which certificates of religious corporations are recorded pursuant to law.
