Immediately upon making and entering the order mentioned in section two hundred and seven of this chapter, the said town superintendent shall cause a written description of that portion of the street or highway ordered to be discontinued to be filed and recorded in the office of the town clerk of the town in which the said street or highway is located, and when the same is duly recorded the said portion of the said street or highway shall thereupon be and become duly abandoned and discontinued for highway purposes.
