Every police officer and firefighter who shall permit any other person to use the certificate issued to him or her as provided by the last section, or shall present or make use of the same, except while acting in the course of the performance of his or her official duties, or who shall use such certificate after the expiration of his or her term of office or his resignation or removal therefrom, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
