Whenever a woman is arrested and taken to a police station, to which a matron is attached, it shall be the duty of the officer in charge of the station to cause such matron to be summoned forthwith, and whenever, in any city in which a police matron has been appointed, a woman is arrested and taken to a station house to which no matron is attached, it shall be the duty of such officer to cause such woman to be removed as soon as possible to the nearest station house within such city to which a police matron is attached. No such separate confinement nor any such removal of any woman shall operate to take from any court any jurisdiction it has.
