The firefighters of the different cities of this state, in case of removal from one city to another, shall be allowed the time which they have served as such firefighters in the city they left, in the city to which they have removed, upon producing a certificate of such service, signed by the chief of the city so left, and being appointed firefighters in the city to which they have removed.
