There is hereby created in the division of homeland security and emergency services an office of fire prevention and control. The head of such office shall be the state fire administrator, who shall be appointed by the governor and shall hold office during the pleasure of the governor. He shall receive an annual salary to be fixed by the commissioner of the division of homeland security and emergency services within the amount available by appropriation. He shall also be entitled to receive reimbursement for expenses actually and necessarily incurred by him in the performance of his duties within the amount available by appropriation.
