As used in this title, the following terms shall mean and include:
1. “Metropolitan Park Project.” A state project to provide new and expanded public recreational opportunities in or near an urban population center to relieve serious overcrowding and prevent further deterioration of urban recreation systems through land acquisition.
2. “Open Space Preservation Project.” A state project to acquire rapidly disappearing open or natural lands in or near urban or suburban areas necessary to serve the recreation needs thereof.
3. “Waterway Project.” A state project to acquire selected lands on major rivers, lakes, and coastal waters to provide public access to protect the right of public use of such waters.
4. “Trailway Project.” A state project to acquire lands and to develop recreation trails thereon necessary to close gaps in the statewide interconnecting trails network before irreversible development occurs.
