New York Consolidated Laws, Education Law - EDN § 304. Expenses

The commissioner shall be paid his necessary traveling and other expenses.  However, notwithstanding any law, rule, regulation or agreement to the contrary, the commissioner shall not be provided an official residence, nor shall the salary plan for the president of the university of the state of New York, as provided in subdivision three of section one hundred sixty-nine of the executive law, make provision for an official residence.  The commissioner of the office of general services is authorized to sell at fair market value any official residence formerly provided to the commissioner or to the president of the university of the state of New York, as well as all state-owned appurtenances associated with such residence.  The proceeds from such sale shall be deposited to the credit of the general fund.
