The commissioner is authorized to enter into agreements for the care and custody of persons convicted and sentenced to imprisonment by the United States courts in this state. Persons may be confined in correctional facilities pursuant to any such agreement and all provisions of law applicable to the care and custody of incarcerated individuals sentenced by courts of this state, except provisions governing the duration of sentence and other related incidents of the sentence provided by federal law, shall apply to the care and custody of such persons.
