The office, in consultation with the commissioners of the department of health, office of addiction services and supports, and office of mental health, shall develop and implement a comprehensive public health monitoring, surveillance and education campaign regarding the legalization of adult-use cannabis and the impact of cannabis use on public health and safety. The public health and education campaign shall also include general education to the public about the cannabis law, including the potential risks associated with patronizing unlicensed retail locations, or otherwise procuring cannabis product, cannabinoid hemp or hemp extract product through persons not authorized by the office.
