Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law to the contrary, a veterans' organization, including, but not limited to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, or any other “veterans club” identified in subdivision nine of section three of this chapter, shall not be precluded from applying for an on-premises license or permit under the provisions of this chapter due to the presence of a police officer serving as an officer of such organization and the state liquor authority shall be authorized to issue such license or permit.
