The board of directors of any such district, upon receiving a written petition for annexation containing a description of the territory proposed to be annexed (which territory shall be contiguous to the district), and signed by not less than 20 percent of the holders of title or evidence of title to lands within the territory proposed to be annexed, and whose names appear as such on the last preceding county assessment roll, shall cause a notice of filing of such petition to be published in the same manner and for the same time as is required for notices of the proposed formation of a county fire protection district under NRS 474.010 to 474.450, inclusive.
