A hospital or rescue unit which meets minimum requirements established by the State Board of Health, or an ambulance service which meets minimum requirements established by the State Board of Health in a county whose population is less than 100,000, or a county or district board of health in a county whose population is 100,000 or more, may use paramedics, as defined in NRS 450B.095, for the rendering of emergency medical care to the sick or injured:
1. At the scene of an emergency and during transport to a hospital;
2. While in a hospital emergency department; and
3. Until responsibility for care is assumed by the regular staff of the hospital.
