For performing the duties prescribed by law, the county health officer shall receive such compensation as is fixed by the board of county commissioners, which compensation shall not be less than $25 per month. The board of county commissioners is directed to allow a claim for $25 per month or for such greater sum as the board may deem proper for the work performed.
