Following receipt of the copy of the report, if any, of the planning commission and of the notice prescribed by NRS 268.638, the commission shall set the date, time and place for a public hearing on the proposal. The date of the hearing shall not be more than 60 days following receipt by the commission of such notice. The commission shall notify the governing body of each city within 7 miles of the exterior boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed, any interested person who has filed a written request with the executive officer of the commission for such notice, and the proponents of the annexation, of the date, time and place of the public hearing at least 15 days prior to the date fixed for the hearing.
