No insurance agent licensed in this state shall include, or permit inclusion, in any insurance coverage of a subject of insurance resident, located or to be performed in this state and placed by the agent, of an unauthorized insurer among the insurers assuming direct risk under such coverage. This section shall not apply as to coverages exempt under Section 258 of this article.
