New Mexico Statutes Chapter 21. State and Private Education Institutions § 21-10-5. Purpose

The purpose of the Indian Resources Development Act is to create statewide Indian resources development institutes, located at New Mexico state university and the university of New Mexico, in order that the state can participate with the federal government and Indian tribes for the purpose of assisting Indian tribes in developing agricultural, mineral, energy, forestry, wildlife, recreation and business resources and associated technical and managerial resources and other areas deemed necessary to promote their economic self-sufficiency to the end that the economic growth and public welfare of New Mexico will be promoted.
