New Jersey Statutes Title 52. State Government, Departments and Officers 52 § 17B-242.2

The New Jersey Violence Intervention Program is established in the Office of the Attorney General, in the Department of Law and Public Safety. The purpose of the program is to invest in effective, evidence-based violence reduction initiatives focused on the highest-risk individuals in communities disproportionately impacted by community violence, with a particular emphasis on firearm violence.

Specifically, the Office of the Attorney General shall establish, advertise, and administer grants through the New Jersey Violence Intervention Program, conduct program evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the violence intervention programs, submit and post reports to provide transparency regarding the effectiveness of the programs, and hold public forums to gather community input regarding the programs.
