The office of the State Auditor, as created by the Constitution, is assigned to the Office of Legislative Services. The State Auditor shall continue to be appointed, subject to the statutory qualifications prescribed by R.S. 52:24-2, and shall hold office and perform his constitutional duties, as heretofore. The State Auditor, in addition to his constitutional duties, shall organize the office of the State Auditor with such subordinate units as required and shall be responsible for administering and directing the further statutory duties imposed by this act subject to the policy direction and control of the Legislative Services Commission and the supervision and direction of the Executive Director.
