The county recording officer of each county shall index all deeds and other instruments of the nature or description set forth in section 46:16-1 of this title in the order in which he shall receive them; but if two or more such deeds or instruments shall be offered to or come into his hands at one and the same time to be recorded, he shall index the same according to the priority of their dates.
