The charter of any cemetery association, incorporated pursuant to prior laws whose period of corporate existence has terminated by lapse of time, which has continued to operate a cemetery in which burials have been made after corporate existence has terminated, may be reinstated in perpetuity upon the recording in the office of the clerk of the county in which the certificate of incorporation of the association is recorded, of a certificate of extension of corporate existence, executed and acknowledged by five or more owners of lots in the cemetery of the cemetery company stating, under oath, that the cemetery company has been engaged in operating a cemetery and that burials have been made in the cemetery since the termination of its corporate existence and upon the recording of the certificate, the charter of the cemetery company shall be reinstated and the corporate existence of the cemetery company shall be extended.
