The Superintendent of the State Police, in consultation with and subject to the approval of the Attorney General, shall provide State Police officers to assist the commission in conducting the roadside enforcement program and the pilot roadside enforcement program. The State Police officers shall have authority to direct diesel buses, heavy-duty diesel trucks, or other diesel-powered motor vehicles from the roadway for the purpose of inspection, and shall perform other police duties necessary for or helpful to the implementation of the programs.The State Police officers shall maintain records of these inspections and shall forward the information concerning the number of inspections, and the type of violations and the number of each type of violation to the Department of Environmental Protection.
