The Department of Education shall require that, beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, all school districts with grades nine through 12 designate at least one staff member to serve as a disability services resource for parents. The designated staff member shall be able to demonstrate competency in the various services available through State agencies that serve persons with disabilities, and shall provide information to parents about how to access the services and assistance to parents in contacting the appropriate State agency. The district shall conduct outreach activities to ensure that the parents of children who receive special education services in the district, and local community disability organizations and service providers, are made aware of the name and contact information of the designated staff member.
